Summary
Critical systems often need not only be operating reliably, their system
management must also be highly available. Thus, both the naming and directory
services used to store system management information as well as the system
management tools must be redundant.
Node Director Solution
Multiple instances of the Node Director located on multiple management servers
each holding a local replica of the management database can be setup and
operated.
The management information is stored in an LDAP accessible database. In order to run a truely redundant system management the database used must support multi-master operation. Multiple LDAP server instances will then all have their own replica of the management database and notify each of the other servers of data changes performed.
Multiple Node Director servers can be set up each talking to its own LDAP server instance and being ready for performing system management tasks.
